The tithi is a lunar day based on the relationship between the sun and the moon, it is an angular relationship of 12 degrees. Similarly, yoga is the angular relationship between the sun and the moon with 13 degrees of difference. There are a total of 27 yogas. Vara is a solar weekday, there are a total of 7 solar days. The karan is the half of a tithi, meaning 6 degrees difference between moon and sun.
